Sunbelt Business Brokers Founder Presented with Prestigious CBI Award by International Business Brokers Association

Ed Pendarvis, the founder of Sunbelt Business Brokers, was recently awarded the prestigious Lifetime Certified Business Intermediary (CBI) award by the International Business Brokers Association (IBBA). The IBBA is an international, non-profit organization providing business brokers with educational opportunities, conferences, professional designations, and numerous networking opportunities.

As a longtime leader and respected industry expert, Pendarvis has been making his mark in the business brokerage industry throughout the country and the international business community. The award is given to those in the community who, in addition to the regular requirements of being a member of the IBBA, go above and beyond the call of duty. Recipients of the CBI award are those who have passed the rigorous Certified Business Intermediary training and have applied their skills and market knowledge in extraordinary ways.

Pendarvis founded Sunbelt Business Brokers in Charleston, South Carolina in 1978 and started licensing business brokerage offices in the mid-1990’s. Sunbelt has become the world’s largest business brokerage company with more Certified Business Intermediaries than any other firm. In addition to starting the successful Sunbelt Business Brokers and remaining involved as Chairman Emeritus, Pendarvis also continues to contribute his vast knowledge and experience with business brokers in many ways. He has been the author of several educational books surrounding the skills and steps necessary for negotiating, buying, and selling a business, while also serving on the board of the IBBA and the South Carolina Better Business Bureau.

In 2009, Pendarvis founded the Business Buyers University. It is an online learning center built to facilitate a smooth business buying process through educating the buyer, building trust between the buyer and seller, and preparing buyers for the responsibilities they have throughout the buying process. Pendarvis is not new to receiving awards from the IBBA. He was also awarded one of the IBBA’s Chair Awards in 2012, for his significant assistance to the Chairman of the Board.
