Office Owner
Charlottesville's office owner Thomas Fromm was born in Latrobe, PA, but considers himself a midwesterner since Chicago was his home for 21 years. After graduation from Northwestern University with a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1969, Tom moved to Lexington, KY where he began his career in Product Engineering with Square D Co. Tom progressed into management and received a MBA from Xavier University in 1979. He is a registered Profesional Engineer. In 1981, Tom accepted a managerial position with Cooper Industries in Charlottesville, VA. He was named Vice President of Engineering of the Murray Division in 1986. After a takeover by Siemens in 1992, he managed the transfer of technical operations to other Siemens facilities. Tom chose to leave Siemens in 1995 rather than relocate, doing technical consulting work while investigating opportunities to start his own business. Tom opened his Sunbelt office in April 1996.
Brokers
Senior Broker Bob French is originally from New York City. After graduating from City College of New York and Adelphi University, he went on to be a teacher for ten years. Later he became the owner of a commercial roofing company for four years, then the owner of a fabric repair business for another four years. For the next fourteen years, however, he found his calling as a minister. Bob joined Sunbelt in December of 2001 and has successfully closed many transactions.
Frederick H. Haar, Jr., principal and founder of Virginia CFO Services, LLC, uses his more than 25 years of financial expertise to provide financial models, data, and strategic advice to companies in a wide range of industries. He works with companies in all phases of the business cycle. Mr. Haar is particularly adept at assisting companies that are in transition or growth resulting from mergers and acquisitions, development of new markets or products, government contracting opportunities, and sale of a business.
Prior to starting Virginia CFO Services, Mr. Haar worked in both public and private accounting. He spent ten years as a certified public accounting audit manager for McGladrey and Pullen, a second tier national CPA firm. He has held CFO positions in several companies. These include a high-tech manufacturer with $40MM in sales and a company in the pharmaceutical industry with a 30% growth rate in a pre-IPO environment.
Mr. Haar has taught the NxLevel course for both the Small Business Administration and the Virginia Piedmont Technology Council. This class covers all aspects of business plan development for inexperienced entrepreneurs. He has been a panelist and presenter at a variety of events, including the Charlottesville Venture Group Annual Business Forum and the Virginia Piedmont Technology Council.
Mr. Haar volunteers his time and expertise to his community in a variety of ways. He has served on multiple Boards of Directors, including the Charlottesville Albemarle Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals where he served as President and Treasurer. Mr. Haar grew up in Charlottesville, Virginia. He received his B.S. in Business Administration with an Accounting Concentration from East Carolina University.

Bob Strotz enjoyed a twenty-year career with Federated Department Stores (Bloomingdales, Macy's, etc.) in roles of increasing responsibility in Financial Planning and Business Analysis. Bob has continued to apply his analytical skills and business knowledge for the past five years as an independent consultant in Strategic Planning and as a senior broker with Sunbelt Business Advisors. He received a bachelor of arts degree from Colgate University with a double major in English and Economics. Bob and his wife, an Episcopal priest and pastoral counselor, live in Keswick, Virginia.
