Greg Kells, Mergers and Acquisitions Master Intermediary, Certified Business Intermediary, Life Member Institute of Business Appraisers, Certified Machinery and Equipment Appraiser, Certified Senior Business Analyst, Licensed Business/Real Estate Broker, is President of Sunbelt Business Brokers Inc. (Canada). His focus on Sunbelt's development has made Sunbelt the premiere business brokerage in Canada. Greg Kells is an international entrepreneur with extensive business development, marketing, and management experience. Mr. Kells started the Canadian operations of Sunbelt Business Brokers in 2002 and in addition to opening 27 offices in Canada he is developing business brokerage in 10 other countries. Mr. Kells has served as president/chairman of companies in various industries including the hi-tech industry, manufacturing, business consulting, training, tourism, real estate development, business appraisal, television production and laboratories. Greg is very much a hands on CEO and his skills and experience are a significant asset to clients. He has been a guest lecturer at Harvard, Yale, and Duke Universities as well as at numerous Canadian Colleges. He enjoys mentoring and is involved in teaching at Sunbelt and for the International Business Brokers Association. Greg is the supportive husband to contemporary artist Gayle Kells and is the proud father of three children. He is involved in his community on various levels including being the Chair of the Canadian Institute of Nature and the founding Chair of the Canadian Institute for Conflict Resolution. He has been a candidate for leadership of Ontario and is active in numerous community organizations.
Dr. Mitch Murphy (aka. Michel) enjoys serving clients in French and English. As Sales Representative, Mitch helps buyers and sellers achieve optimal outcomes in the purchase and sale of small/medium businesses in the Ottawa-Gatineau region. Prior to joining Sunbelt, Mitch spent over a decade in the IT industry working for clients such as Mercedes-Benz and BBC News. He also owned two businesses since then in music distribution/retail and environmental statistics. Mitch holds a B.Sc.H., an M.B.A., and a Ph.D. from Carleton University where he continues to teach as a Finance Instructor in the Sprott School of Business.
Olga is excellent at connecting buyers and seller. She has a strong background in a variety of industries. She began her career in the hospitality industry working with international organizations. She has held a wide variety of professional positions such as translation, paralegal, immigration and sales. She came to Sunbelt through her own acquisition of a business and liked the service so much she joined the staff. Olga is a hard worker who does a great job marketing her listings and connecting her sellers the right buyers.
Heman Hui has been working at Sunbelt as a sales representative for 4 years. He is knowledgeable in the functioning of different types of businesses and the accurate evaluation of their values. He understands buyers’ and sellers’ needs and is experienced in coaching the sellers to prepare the sale of their business as well as coordinating due diligence processes on behalf of his clients. As a past franchisee, Heman is well-versed in the operation of small business, franchise agreement, lease negotiation, and financial management. Heman has also worked briefly in the financial industry. Heman graduated from McGill University in engineering and had worked in the manufacturing industry as a design and project engineer for twelve years. Heman is a member of PEO and OREA in good standing. It is his pleasure to serve his clients in English, Cantonese or Mandarin.
Francois, a Certified Business Intermediary (CBI) and member of the International Business Brokerage Association, is a graduate in Business; Major Finance. He possesses over 20 years of business experience in management and operations in the automotive industry. After acquiring expertise in Financial Services, Francois exited the position of Regional Manager - Eastern Canada to acquire experience at different manufacturers where he held Sales Operations management positions, responsible for the Quebec provincial territory. During his tenure over the years, he helped operators with the purchase of franchises, specialized mergers and acquisitions, as well as securing mortgage and capital financing; he gained experience in assisting operators in making the proper choices to assure their financial success in a very competitive industry. His expertise and dedication to customer service allowed Francois to enter the retail operations where he successfully operated and managed automotive and recreational vehicle dealerships. This background provides Francois with a solid perspective on business operations, processes and efficiencies, and the ability to mentor and educate business buyers and sellers while providing best-in-class service. Susan has been with us since 2011, and is the first friendly face you will see when you walk in the door at Sunbelt Ottawa. In her capacity as Office Administrator, she is responsible for overseeing the smooth and efficient running of the Sunbelt Ottawa office. Susan has a multi-faceted background including experience in Residential Real Estate and the Automotive Industry. On a daily basis Susan works closely with Sunbelt’s President and the business analyst group. She is able to apply her knowledge and Administrative expertise which she has gained from over 20 years in different positions. Born in Scotland and raised in Kingston, Susan has called Ottawa home now for 16 years. In her spare time she enjoys reading, antique shopping and spending time with her family.
Chris Strang, P.Eng, M.A.SC, is a seasoned professional with over 20 years of experience in small business. With International experience in the US, Europe and Middle East and his finance background has provided many business owners with great advice and counsel. Chris is focused at Sunbelt Business Brokers on assisting business owners and potential owners on gaining success through successfully transferring control of Ottawa Region based businesses to new management. In addition to his 12 years experience owning and operating his own businesses, Mr. Benell has previously worked in corporate finance and acquisitions for a large multinational, as a commercial banker for a Big Five Bank, and as a University lecturer teaching strategic planning. Robert holds Masters of Business Administration and Bachelor of Science degrees, and is a licensed Business/Real Estate representative with Sunbelt Business Brokers Bizcap in Ottawa. Mr. Benell has experience with hundreds of businesses in a variety of industries, and is very familiar with many of the issues faced by owner/operators.
Gavin McLintock, CMEA, SBA, PCIP, P.Eng., B.Sc., M.Eng.Gavin McLintock is a Professional Engineer, a Certified Information Systems Security Professional, and a Professional in Critical Infrastructure Protection. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE. Over more than 30 years of business experience as a consultant and entrepreneur he has led or participated in the creation of six technology, consulting or media production enterprises. He works with Sunbelt carrying out business valuations and machinery and equipment appraisals.As a consultant, engineer and project manager he has held COO and CTO positions and has led or personally carried out dozens of projects for large and small companies and non-governmental organizations as well as for many Canadian and U.S. Government Departments. In starting and managing several small enterprises, and in several consulting assignments, he has gained experience in finance, human resources management, marketing, product development and project management, both nationally and internationally. He is a skilled communicator with more than 25 technical papers, magazine articles, lectures and conference presentations and several radio and television appearances to his credit. He has written numerous reports, proposals, marketing and business plans. He has also developed curriculum for, and instructed in, the certification program for the Professional in Critical Infrastructure Protection designation.Mr. McLintock is active in the community having served, or currently serving on the Boards of several community, not-for-profit and charitable organizations.
Khaled Bitar, B.Sc., CBI, Broker, is a seasoned business professional, with extensive sales and business management experience in Canada and overseas. Khaled has worked abroad for many years, and traveled to many countries on 5 continents, dealing with different customers having varied requirements, backgrounds and cultures. These interactions have afforded him the learning opportunities to get to know different cultures and traditions over the years. Khaled has held many executive positions during his career, having served as Branch Manager for a multinational company in Ottawa, and different sales positions, including VP Sales and Marketing in two global high tech companies. Rale Todorovic has an international background and experience working in various industries and fields. He acquired degrees in Journalism and Electrical Engineering, Senior Business Analyst and he is Certified Machinery and Equipment Appraiser (CMEA), and Renewable Energy Professional (CREP). His professional journey began in journalism as a Journalist working for several newspapers as well as conducting a weekly show on the local radio station in his homeland. After graduation as an Electrical Engineer he worked as a Plant Engineer in a large beverage manufacturing company. His passion for computers and high-technology led him into IT field where he has accrued more than 12 years of experience working on various projects in the technical, software development and management sectors. Adhering to his principle, that knowledge is useful and powerful only if it is transferred to others, he was teaching and delivering commercial computer application courses. Throughout these courses more than 200 students gained basic and advanced knowledge of various commercial applications. As a technically oriented mind, he has been fascinated by Tesla's works and ideas about alternative and sustainable energy, as the only one harmless solution for global environment. He had acquired a CREP (Certified Renewable Energy Professional) designation and as a member of the team got an opportunity to apply his knowledge in a huge international green energy project designed for the crop-drying factory in Kagwe Kenya. He manages a small consulting business developing renewable energy projects in residential and commercial sectors.
