The Top Five Business Owners’ Resolutions for 2019

The beginning of the year is the perfect time to set resolutions. It’s all over social media – everyone’s posting their resolutions, goals for 2019 or their word for the year. But resolutions aren’t just for individual people. Have you ever thought of setting resolutions for a business?

Here are our top five resolutions for business owners:

  1. Organize! Organizing and decluttering are a great way to get the year started. Make sure your files, stocking process, emails and procedures are in order. Also, any physical spaces (storage shelves or product displays) should be tidied up.
  2. Commit to networking. Set a plan for getting out and meeting people, joining networking groups, and making contacts. Setting the intention and goal for networking will make you more focused on this important task, rather than just assuming it will happen.
  3. Reflect on the past. Take a step back and look at the business as a whole. Are goals being met? Has the initial vision for the business grown or stalled out? Are there any products you should add or remove from your offerings? Are you on par or surpassing your competitors?
  4. Look at the future. Make sure there’s a clear path for the future of the company. What can you offer your clients, employees and industry? Where is the industry headed? What needs to happen for the company to grow?
  5. Give back. Find a way to help the community. Giving back doesn’t have to be a monetary contribution. It can be volunteering for a sports league, establishing a mentorship program, or organizing a volunteering day with your employees. The main perk is helping those around you, but it’s a good way to get the company name out there.

Taking time to take stock and set solid intentions for your business in the new year can revitalize your company. If selling or expanding your business is in the plan for 2019, contact Sunbelt Business Brokers to see opportunities available in Raleigh and Durham.
