Mike Keen

Mike Keen is the managing broker and transaction lead at Sunbelt Business Brokers of Roanoke & Lynchburg, where he oversees deal structuring, negotiation, diligence, and closing for privately held companies across the Main Street and Lower Middle Market sectors.

With more than two decades of experience spanning business ownership, franchise operations, and complex financial investigation, Mike brings a rare combination of transactional expertise, analytical rigor, and practical operating experience to every engagement. He is known for his disciplined approach to negotiations, deep financial analysis, and ability to identify both opportunity and risk within a transaction.

Prior to entering business brokerage, Mike served 26 years with the Virginia State Police, retiring as a Senior Special Agent specializing in financial crimes and fraud investigation. During his law enforcement career, he worked alongside both the United States Attorney's Office and the Virginia Attorney General's Office as a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). That background continues to inform his forensic review of financials, diligence oversight, and transaction risk assessment.

Together, Mike and his wife and business partner, Jeannie Keen, have acquired, scaled, and successfully exited multiple businesses across retail, franchising, and logistics, providing firsthand experience on both sides of the closing table.

Mike is a Certified Main Street Business Broker (CMSBB) and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). He is a member of the International Business Brokers Association, M&A Source, Carolinas-Virginia Business Brokers Association, and the International Franchise Professionals Group.

He has earned multiple industry honors, including Million Dollar Producer, Multi-Million Dollar Producer, and Outstanding Producer awards, and has served in leadership roles on the boards of the IBBA, CVBBA, and the Virginia State Police Association.
