In an interview with The Dayton Business Journal<\/a>, reporter Nicole Mistretta sat down with Sunbelt Business Advisors of Southwest Ohio owner Gerry Chadwick and his daughter, Kate Vriner to discuss how the Dayton branch of the brokerage is evolving and growing.<\/p>\n

The most important detail of that evolution is Kate\u2019s expanded role and involvement.<\/p>\n

In January, Kate was named the new President of Sunbelt Business Advisors of Southwest Ohio. And for the father-daughter duo, 2024 will be a year of transition as she prepares to take over as owner in 2025 in addition to her President role.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s scary and exciting,\u201d Kate said. \u201cThere\u2019s pressure to continue what he\u2019s built \u2013 Not just on the work side of things, but on the community aspect of it. He\u2019s been, for as long as I can remember, extremely involved in the community. That was something that he and my mom instilled in me. So, I\u2019m making sure that, as a company, we continue to be involved in different things.\u201d<\/p>\n

The change will make Sunbelt a woman-owned business for the first time, a title that comes with great meaning for both Kate and Gerry.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn kind of a traditional guy world women have not always been given the access and the support to successfully operate a business,\u201d Gerry told the Journal. \u201cWe don\u2019t get any financial value out of being a woman-owned business, but I think one of the things that we bring to the table is certainly a great level of empathy \u2013 maybe some skills that can add in assisting business owners with where they can get to. I think through Kate\u2019s experience in this business, she can show them and give some guidance on how to get there and maybe skip a couple of mistakes along the way, which that\u2019s kind of what I see. And that\u2019s something that\u2019s awesome.\u201d<\/p>\n
