A native of the UK, Ian arrived in Vancouver in 1988 and immediately became involved in the dynamic Canadian business world. While living in Canada, Ian has gained over 20 years experience working in electronics distribution, and supporting small to medium business enterprises. During this time Ian worked in all facets of a multi-million dollar company taking on roles from operations and product flow management to sales, marketing and senior management. Through his experience, along with his designation of VP Sales and Marketing, Ian worked with teams covering three continents around the world and was instrumental in the sale of a major division of this business. As a result, Ian fully understands the process and attention to detail needed to successfully complete a business sale.
Ian has always had a focus on the small to medium business entrepreneur, and learned quickly the importance of value added service and support required for business growth. From Europe to Latin America, it was evident that no matter where you are in the world or whatever your business focus and size, you can never put a price on the value of a key strategic partner. This same philosophy holds true when the time comes for the owner of the business is ready to sell, or a new budding entrepreneur is looking for that new challenge or opportunity. Ian’s background, experience, and empathy toward the business owner, along with his commitment to hard work and professionalism, will ensure he is an ideal partner to assist you in achieving your goals.
During his busy business life Ian completed his Marketing Diploma, is a Certified Business Intermediary (CBI) and is a licensed Realtor. Outside of Ian’s involvement in the business community in Vancouver, he is also a keen sportsman enjoying skiing, golf and soccer along with a passion for the outdoors, and all this country has to offer.
His career path includes substantive background with brand-leading service focused organizations, as well as that of an independent business consultant. A consummate professional, he actively contributed to and gained deep understanding of the business fundamentals of the organization and sought harmony across client needs and expectations with the marketing strategies and business planning initiatives he developed to leverage progressive results.

Arthur has an underlying motivation to solve problems and implement strategic solutions – fundamental qualities sought in a business broker. It’s a tough marketplace and you need to be incredibly responsive and competitive to prevail.” More broadly, his experience includes time spent in Retail, Financial Services, Manufacturing, Distribution, Commercial Fisheries, High Tech, Food Service and as the principal investor in a Vancouver based Visual Effects startup. Clearly, Mr. McDonald has a wealth of knowledge from which to draw in support of his clients.

Schooled as an educator at the University of Auckland, New Zealand, Amanda left the discipline in favour of a career in business development. Growing up in a family of entrepreneurs fostered her spirit to explore companies that made sound financial sense and had reasonably instant cash flow. Her first foray into business was an automotive interior trim franchise with a large BC territory. Six years later, she successfully sub-franchised the business interests into three separate territories and subsequently sold all three to new operators. At the same time and inspired to satisfy her creative nature, she began the development of a silk-screen company with a focus on wholesale printing of garments and other printable substrates. Later she added a small to medium format sign manufacturing shop under a separate division – both operated for 15 years in the Vancouver area. After 22 years, her start-up companies are now sold and continue to operate under new ownership – a satisfying testament to some acquired skill, mentorship and a fair amount of sweat equity.
Going forward, she is passionate about deploying a plan to assist and guide others as they transition to or from business ownership, develop or consolidate exit strategies by providing exceptional financial analysis and professional services made available exclusively through the Pacific Business Brokers proprietary systems with an overall goal of establishing an organic match for motivated buyers and sellers.
Becoming a business broker is the chrysalis of her life’s work. It provides an opportunity to demonstrate a corporate culture that provides business owners, partners, employees and individuals with a sense of self direction (autonomy), a sense of achievement (mastery), and one that makes a difference (purposeful contribution).
Amanda has been an independent professional dancer in Vancouver, teaches ballroom dancing, enjoys sailing, tennis, skiing, biking and yoga among a plethora of ‘playground’ activities offered up by the good fortune of living and working in beautiful Vancouver and coastal British Columbia.
